ay 6, 2001 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plot Details *After everyone learned Bob from Hawaii Movie Tours got the JP3 script, they bombarded him with questions. Bob's (thankfully) not spilling all the beans, but did drop a few plot details: The script is 111 pages, which indicates the film may be 111 minutes long (prior to any scene cutting) *While not giving away the ending, Bob says a certain event occurs which leaves things open for yet anotherJP film. *An "unexpected" character appears at the end of the movie. *The Brachiosaurs are back, "inat least one scene". Confirming what we've heard in the past, our friend the Carnotaur makes an appearance. *Bob says this line by Paul will be one we won't forget: "Can't help but be a little offended". Your guess is as good as mine... May 2, 2001 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JP3 Commercial During 'Survivor' Finale! This just in! A very reliable Universal source dropped me a line to say that the first look we'll get at the highly anticipated JP3 trailer will actually come before Friday's The Mummy Returns, during Thursday night's season finale of Survivor: The Australian Outback! According to the source, the commercial will be 45 seconds long. Set your VCR's! Macy Sets The Record Straight? William H. Macy sat down with USA Today.com's Jeannie Williams in an column published online this morning. In the article, Williams grills Macy about his now-infamous negative comments about JP3, which Macy claims were simply taken out of context: Macy acknowledges he did mention launching a $100 million ship without arudder, but says, "I wasn't talking about Jurassic Park." (He won't say whichmovie, but could it be Mystery Men?) Despite this and more dino-stress, what he really wants is to set the record straight: "I had a grand time! I never said I was unhappy on the set. (Director) Joe Johnston is such a great guy! I've been on a couple of big movies, and this is my favorite one yet." Macy goes on to talk about some of the stunts he was involved in: Macy is happy to talk about dangling 35 feet from a crane over water while a spinosaurus rocks him back and forth. And about feeling trapped and drowning in a metal cage under water, even though it was open-ended. One of the tougher scenes was a plane crash: "We're in the fuselage, (Spoilers! - highlight to read)and the dinos are rolling it over and over. We padded ourselves, but we all walked out banged up, beat up. But the stunt people do so much more." Macy also got the idea to leap over a bush while fleeing the dinosaurs, but he failed to spot a huge wooden pot around a tree and slammed into it. The shot was kept, and Macy can't wait to see it. Action Figures in Stores May 12 Luke Sikura managed to pry some release date info out of the manager at his local Toys R' Us, and sends word that this particular store expects the first shipment of Hasbro action figuers next Saturday, May 12th. First Trailer Report! James Fedas was the first to send in their report on the brand-new JP3 trailer, which he saw last night before a special screening of "The Mummy Returns". Here's what James has to say (Highlight to read the spoilers!): "Amazing! Was this trailer amazing or what!? The firt 20 seconds or so, you arein a restaurant in the plane, and they are all talking. Then in a secondthe plane crashes, and people are screaming. They run and scream (as expected). There's one part that really sticks out, they are in an old building, possiblythe old compound, and Tea Leoni is looking at what seems to be a raptor mannequin, but the audence sees the raptors eyes move but Tea cleary doesn't. OOPS!Open you eyes Tea! Then you hear a gunshot and some people screaming "RUN!".As for the raptors and the feathers, on the2 or 3 you see in the trailer, there is hardly anything, one is w/o them and the others have little feathers, under 2 inches each." Warner Home Video Attempts to Captalizeon JP3 Here's an indication of things to come -- companies releasing dinosaur-related products around the time of JP3's release in an attempt to capitalize onthe success of the franchise. Warner, for one, has announced a set of twonewvideos to be released in July, including the successful IMAX film, "T-Rex:Back to the Cretaceous" and the old four-part "The Dinosaurs!" series. April 25, 2001 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Johnston Talks JP3 JP3 director Joe Johnston talked to AP movie writer David German in thiswire story about summer films, commenting on how he didn't want to imitateSpielberg in JP3, but create a film of his own: ``Jurassic Park III'' director Joe Johnston had the unenviable task of following Spielberg's two blockbuster dinosaur flicks. But the project had full support from Spielberg, who is executive producer on the new sequel and hand-picked Johnston to direct. ``No one can come along and make a Steven Spielberg movie except Steven Spielberg,'' said Johnston, whose directing credits include ``Jumanji'' and ``OctoberSky.'' ``He didn't hire me to make a Steven Spielberg movie. He hired meto makemy own.'' ``I think you do have to sort of ratchet up the intensity of these filmsas you get into sequel after sequel. You have to keep offering the audiencemore,'' Johnston said. JP3 Website, Trailer Info Don't think you'll be able to make it to the opening night of The Mummy 2 next Friday for the JP3 trailer? Don't worry, as I've received word froma Universal source that they are "hoping" they will have a "fullscreen Quicktime version" available for download on the site that night. April 20, 2001 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Pic from EW! ![]() The new issue of Entertainment Weekly arrived in many mailboxes today, featuring a big segment on summer movies -- the highlight of the article is obviously this really great picture of Sam Neill (it's his arm, apparently) and Alexandro Nivola fighting off an animatronic raptor in a scene very reminicent of one in JP... ( About the Trailer, Johnston Actionadventure.about.com posted an article about the "Universal StudiosSummer Celebration", an event which apparently took place recently and wheretheJP3 trailer was screened for members of the media. Here's the scoop, whichgives some pretty detailed info about the trailer.. Bleow are someSpoilersDo not Highlight if u do not wish to view.: "Producer Kathleen Kennedy introduced the film telling the story of how director Joe Johnston had wanted to direct Lost World, but when Steven Spielberg decided to direct that, he promised part III to Johnston. Jurassic Park III boats more dinosaur shots than the first two films combined, according to Kennedy, and the trailer suggested a few of the new film's surprises. The trailer opens with shots (Spoilers!!!!) of the abandoned lab. Paul Kirby (WilliamH.Macy) then hires Dr. Grant (Sam Neill) to guide his family on an aerialtourof the island, but then decides to land against Grant's advice. Theensuingshots of chaos show dinosaurs communicating with each other, settingtrapsfor the humans, and the discovery of a large bird cage. The soundsof a pterodactyl coming home close the trailer." | April 12, 2001 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- First JP3 Newspaper Ad ![]() Maybe Universal was reading the news item here earlier this week ago about the seemingly lack of advertising for JP3, because starting a few days ago, 'lwdude' noticed a few of these advetisements in his local paper (the Houston Chronicle), of various sizes. "They're not just in the entertainment sections either," he says. "They're everywhere in the paper." Scene Filmed at IOA? Remember the rumor from back in July that said plans were in the works to film a few of JP3's scenes at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park in Orlando? Well, inGenNET received some info from a source today which says this may have happened: "In early Febuary,
Camp Jurassic and Triceratops Encounter were closed to public around 4pm(it
was a now-crowd day anyways), it said maintenance, but there were hugefloodlights
installed and all the trashcans and ropes were brought out ofthe area before.
I was talking to someone who felt very important [and] hesaid that they were
doing some shots with rain, mainly in the Trike waitingline. [He] said there
are no actors involved, and the park was running slowtoday, so no big deal.
He was wearing a Jurassic 3 hat!"
